Pyrolysis of wastes and biomass

Haloclean® a performance enhanced low temperature pyrolysis developed originally for the thermal degradation of electronic scrap adapted successfully by the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe for pyrolysis of biomass.

The Haloclean pyrolysis for biomass created a new type of pyrolysis – the intermediate pyrolysis and is therefore accomplishing the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe approach by fast pyrolysis leading to synthetic fuels – the bioliq® process. Different types of biomass oil containing biomasses have been tested and successfully applied to combined heat and power generation. The pyrolysis temperature ranges between 350 to 550 °C and residence times of only 1 to 15 minutes are sufficient in case of biomass whereas in case of electronic scrap those can be increased to several hours at different temperature.
