Enhanced Natural Attenuation by iSOC®
In groundwater remediation the use of innovative technologies or the stimulation of natural processes are becoming more and more popular.
The use of dissolved oxygen in hydrocarbon contaminated groundwater to enhance natural attenuation of hydrocarbons such as TPH, MtBE and BTEX has been growing as a remediation technology since the mid 1990’s.
The iSOC® technology, which stands for in situ Submerged Oxygen Curtain, supersaturates the groundwater with low decay dissolved oxygen at concentrations ranging from 42 to 200 ppm depending on the aquifer conditions and depth of injection. The oxygen transfer efficiency is nearly 100 % and the transfer is not associated with the formation of any bubbles.
