Securing the contaminated site W21 “Teerag-Asdag Simmering”

A special characteristic of the hydrogeological conditions around this site is its closeness to the Danube Channel and the Danube. Due to this fact, in the area around W21 there are to be found very complex conditions of groundwater flow, exposed to considerable variations. As a consequence of massive impacts of the Second World War in 1945, but also of superficial pollutants brought in by utilisation, the premises of the Teerag-Asdag AG in Simmering show a pollution of soil and groundwater through creosote components on a total area of approx. 13 hectares.
