Chances of CO2-Projects for European Landfill

Of course, waste incineration and utilizations of biogas are important substitution factors of fossil fuels which reduces CO2-emissions relevant to greenhouse gas effect. An important part of the Kyoto-Protocol is the flexible mechanisms which give opportunities to industrial countries to buy emission certificates in other states. One of these well working types of projects is the “Joint Implementation (JI) Project of Landfill Gas Recovery”. The collected landfill gas will be flared with or without power generation. The gas contents up to 60 percent of Methane which has an enormous calorific value on one hand and a hazardous effect to atmosphere in case of free emission on the other hand.
