Ressourceneffizienz entlang der Wertschöpfungskette

Digitale Produktpässe als Dateninfrastruktur des Nachhaltigkeitsrechts

Resource efficiency is a controversial concept that has many facets, ranging from individual raw materials to the environmental efficiency of entire production processes. Deriving concrete legal measures is therefore a complex undertaking. The EU Ecodesign Regulation proves that this complexity can only be addressed with the decentralized data infrastructures of digital product passports, which are currently under development. These can be used to map and coordinate resource flows. At the same time, data governance issues arise across the value chain due to unclear data stewardship obligations and access rights. In the long term, it is conceivable that various areas of economic and environmental law could be linked via these new data infrastructures as "digital sustainability law.”
