Battery Lifecycle – Decentralised Hub Concepts to offer centralised solutions for challenges along the Supply Chain
The aftersales market of batteries provides different challenges to all participants along the supply chain. The market is missing a holistic approach for solutions in the field of Remanufacturing, Refurbishment, Repair, Reuse and Recycling.
Individual or specific solutions for one of the challenges have been initiated by different players at randomly spread locations without aiming for an overall solution. This results in the effect that defect or end of life batteries and their components are often transported inefficiently and uneconomically over long distances. Besides the challenges in Logistic and Networks, the availability of sufficient trained specialist who are able to perform the service along the Battery lifecycle is currently quite limited. Accordingly, BLC – The Battery Lifecycle Company has adapted the concept and will set up a network of decentralized Battery Lifecycle Hubs where all services can be offered in one production facility with the aim of maximum 250 km distance to the customer. The batteries are thus handled in the most sustainable way for the customer and the environment. Components which have been declared for recycling in the processes go into their targeted material flows. This allows consolidated quantities of material to be driven in utilized trucks to the further treatment sites.
