Die Errichtung und dasManagement vonMarine Protected Areas (MPAs) sowie kohärenten MPA-Netzwerken in den Staaten des angelsächsischen Rechtskreises – u.a. im Vereinigten Königreich Großbritannien und Nordirland (VK) – sind Themenkomplexe, denen Detlef Czybulka Zeit seines wissenschaftlichen Schaffens große Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet hat und die Gegenstände seiner zahlreichen, grundlegenden Publikationen sind.
The UK MPA Network is a coherent network of Marine Protected Areas for conservation and restoration of marine biodiversity in the United Kingdom (UK), following the tradition of MPA networks in Anglo-Saxon countries. As of late, the UK MPA Network has been expanded by a new type of marine protected area – Highly Protected Marine Area (HPMA) which provides the strictest nature conservation measures for MPAs in the UK so far. Brexit has resulted in uncertainties regarding the designation and management of the UK MPA Network.
