Das „Insektenschutzpaket“

As part of the implementation of the German Federal Government's “Action Programme for Insect Protection” of 2019, the German federal legislative bodies recently approved the so-called “Insect Conservation Package” consisting of, on the one hand, a law amending, inter alia, the Federal Act on Nature Conservation and Landscape Management (Bundesnaturschutzgesetz) and, on the other hand, a regulation amending the Ordinance on the Use of Plant Protection Products (Pflanzenschutz-Anwendungsverordnung). This article outlines the main contents of that legislative package, putting particular focus on changes made to the text in the course of the legislative process.
