Machine vision based measurement system for quantity and quality inspection of aggregates transported on conveyer belts
Research presented in the paper involved development and integration of machine vision system suitable for inspection of material transported on conveyor belts. The main motive behind this research was the need for a low cost and reliable solution suited for a real time volume and size distribution assessment of transported bulk material.
Whilst the methods and measuring devices for determining the weight in conveyor belt transport are widely known and employed in the industry, there still exists a need for accurate measurement of both volume and size distribution of transported materials. The system proposed in this paper provides that information upon real-time measurements giving the industry the chance to use this data in a variety of ways, such as: quality inspection, product shipping control and first and foremost for the process control purposes. Proposed solution could be used in e.g. coal, ore and rock mining and processing industries.
