Influence of various parameters on Libs for the application to sorting

LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) is thought to be one of the best analytical methods to achieve the mutual separation of the non-ferrous mixed metals, because the LIBS could identify most of the elements involving light ones with high accuracy.

Application of the LIBS to a real sorting, however, seems still to have several problems to be solved. This paper describes the influence of several kinds of parameters to the LIBS analysis in order to realize LIBS sorting; parameters investigated are laser pulse energy, detection delay time, laser focal distance, sample inclination. The sample used were high purity copper plate. The main results obtiend are shown in the followings.
