Natural Bioactive Compounds in Copper Bioremediation

The aim of this research work was to investigate the influence of spruce bark natural bioactive compounds on copper bioaccumulation in rape plant.

The germination tests experiments were carried out in the presence of different polyphenolic aqueous extracts (0.580, 1.004, 1.912 g dry matter content/litre) and various copper ion concentrations (10, 25, 50 mg/litre CuSO4). Biometric measurements of rape plantlet elongation, tolerance index reported to plantlet elongation and fresh biomass, total chlorophyll quantification, bioaccumulation and translocation factor assay permitted the evaluation of natural polyphenolic compounds efficiency in phytoremediation. The results showed that spruce barck aqueous extract amendments were suitable for phytostabilisation.
