ISWA's White Paper on Waste Management and Climate Change
The International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) submitted its Waste and Climate Change White Paper at the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, setting forth technologies and mechanisms that can transform the waste sector into a net global reducer of GHG emissions. ISWA's objective is to facilitate global change of attitude regarding the importance of waste management in Climate Change abatement. The White Paper emphasized that investments in waste management infrastructure should be prioritized as very important in terms of delivering substantial and direct CO2 emission reductions while also resolving serious environmental and health problems. Other global activities of ISWA will also be discussed.
