Master and PhD programmes in water and coastal management at the University of Cádiz under Erasmus Mundus initiative: an approach to high European educational programmes for managers and researchers
Water and coastlines are shared by all of us, so that the activities in land-locked countries may affect the coastlines far away, in another country. There is therefore a global need for professionals with an understanding of the issues and pressures for appropriate management. The course objective is to train managers and scientists for the Integrated River Basin and Coastal Zone Management, including the Water Framework Directive implementation and sustainability.
The European Union is promoting Higher Education Programmes, Masters and Ph.D. related to the improvement of new technologies applied to, among others, Water and Coastal Management. Erasmus Mundus Master Course has been designed and a Ph.D. Programme will be designed as high-quality study programmes formed by a consortium of European Higher Education institutions. These masters have been proposed by the EU intended "to enhance quality in European higher education and to promote intercultural understanding through co-operation with third countriesâ€.
